Microblading (Eyebrows)
Microblading (Semi-Permanent Make Up)
Introduction
Microblading is the process of delicately implanting colour pigment into the skin via a tiny, sterile needles in a tiny blade to simulate the appearance of natural hair strokes.
Microblading is meant to be a subtle, natural enhancement and to create the illusion of fuller brows.
The Microblading method is designed to blend with your natural brow hair. If you have very little or sparse eyebrow hair it is possible that you may need more than two sessions to achieve your desired result.
What does the treatment involve ?
Your brow area will be thoroughly cleaned and a topical anaesthetic will be applied. Your brow will then be marked out, measurements are taken to check symmetry and placement.
The shape and colour will be decided upon taking into account your skin type, skin tone, existing brows, bone structure, your personal preference and my recommendations.
We will work together to create brows that are flattering and will look the most natural.
Once a shape is determined and approved, I will begin Microblading. Additional anaesthetics will be applied throughout the process to help keep you as comfortable as possible.
What are the Benefits of Microblading ?
The benefits include:
- Gives a natural looking brow with realistic hair like strokes.
- Covers sparse eyebrows and gaps in the eyebrows.
- Saves time on makeup application-no need to fill in brows on a daily basis.
- Will not smudge or smear.
- Helps cover up scars in the brow.
- Gives clients with alopecia, or secondary hair loss due to Chemotherapy, a natural looking brow.
How long does it take ?
The procedure is split into 2 appointments which are 4-6 weeks apart to allow for the healing process to complete. The initial procedure will take from 60 to 90 minutes, and your second appointment takes from 30-60 minutes.
Is Microblading painful ?
Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable where as other clients report no discomfort at all.
Topical anesthetics are used to maximise your comfort during the procedure, however pain tolerance varies from client to client.
Every effort will be made during the treatment, to keep you as comfortable as possible, by keeping additional anaesthetic topped up regularly throughout the process .
What results can I expect ?
Following your procedure your brows will appear much darker and bolder than it will heal due to oxidation in the surface layer of your skin. Your brows will also appear warmer in colour.
You may experience some redness or swelling around the tattooed area, though this typically disappears within 48 hours. Within a few days (typically 5-10) you will notice some scabbing or flaking in the treatment area, and your brows may appear spotty or patchy until the brow area has fully healed.
At 4-6 weeks your brows will be fully healed. If you’d prefer darker, bolder brows we can always add more colour or dimension during your follow-up appointment!
Do I need a patch test ?
Yes all clients need a patch test at least 48 hours before the procedure.
At the patch test appointment we will complete the consultation paperwork to ensure you are suitable for treatment and I will provide you with the necessary pre treatment advice.
Can I still wear make up on my brows after MIcroblading ?
Microblading is not meant to entirely replace makeup.
Eyebrow pencils and powders may still be needed. Depending on your brows and bone structure, makeup may still be needed to achieve more dramatic brow looks once you have healed.
How old do I have to be to have Microblading ?
In line with the Tattoo of Minors Act you must be 18 years or older.
How should I prepare for my Microblading appointment ?
If you have reference photos please feel free to bring these to your appointment.
Please wear your normal make-up to your Microblading appointment.
Since microbladed areas may be swollen or red, you are advised not to make important social plans on the day of your appointment.

What should I do after the procedure ?
Please review the detailed Pre & Post Care Instructions that will given to you along with an aftercare balm.
It is highly beneficial to follow these instructions to ensure a comfortable healing process and to achieve the best possible results.
DO NOT rub or pick the healing area as the colour will peel off prematurely, and avoid extreme heat, sweating, and contaminated bodies of water (such as saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, pools, lakes, and places with hot humidity, etc.) are short-lived and mild, the most common being mild bruising to the site of the injection.
Some patients also report mild headaches shortly after the treatment, but these usually subside within 24 hours
How long does Microblading last ?
Microblading is considered semi-permanent as it does not wash away, however pigments are designed to fade over time.
Factors such as skin type, iron deficiency, pigment colour (lighter colors fade faster) and sun exposure can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down.
For best results it is recommended that you follow our aftercare instructions and touch-up your tattoo every 1-2 years (or as needed). Microblading requires a minimum of two sessions.
*Please note that final results CAN NOT be guaranteed as everyone retains and breaks down pigment differently and follow-up appointments are recommended at 8-12 weeks where we can asses your pigment retention and make any changes necessary.
People with lighter hair, correction work or sparse eyebrows may require more than one follow-up to reach their desired look.
